Flower Pot Centerpeices

My baby brother (who is no where near a baby anymore -- he's 18) is having his Eagle Scout ceremony this weekend. We're going with a USA Theme so I'm going to make centerpieces of flower pots wrapped in fabric.  In my head,  I think they'll turn out great, but I'll have to let you know (and update a pic with the finished product). I'm concerned with getting the fabric to stay on the flower pot with just my trusty glue gun. I also want to make sure they look "guy" enough.
